In this installment of our "Classic American Cars" series, we'll be introducing a rare, enduringly popular fourth-generation (GMT400) Chevrolet C/K pickup. ↓Vehicle details: Model: 1995 Chevrolet K2500 EXT (Extended Cab/6.5-foot bed) Price: ¥3.66 million (Total payment: ¥3.88 million) Body Color: Burgundy Red Interior: Wine Red Engine: 6.5-liter V8 Turbo Diesel Maximum Power: 190hp @ 3400rpm Maximum Torque: 522Nm @ 1700rpm Transmission: Column-Mounted 4-Speed Automatic Drivetrain: Part-Time 4WD Seating Capacity: 5 Vehicle Inspection: 1-Year Mileage: 25,659 miles (approximately 41,054km) Dimensions: Length x Width x Height = 624 x 218 x 226cm (according to vehicle inspection certificate) Other Features: Mickey Thompson aluminum wheels, Mickey Thompson Baja wheels (front 35x12.50R16, rear 34x14.50R16), lift, roll bar, billet grille, roof marker, overfenders During the American car boom of the 1990s, many Chevrolet C/K series vehicles were imported to Japan, but the overwhelming majority was the 2WD C1500. The most common of these were lowriders, with lowered ride heights and billet wheels, and powered by 5-liter or 5.7-liter V8 gasoline engines. What's more, the majority of these were second-hand parallel imports with rewound gauges. The reason why the GMT400 C1500, which was so common back then, is so rare these days is that many of them were in shabby condition with tampered gauges. Another contributing factor is the large number of dealers who converted cars with questionable provenance into lowriders and sold them without proper maintenance. Beginner owners who jumped on the bandwagon and bought poor quality used cars without doing much research, only to find they couldn't maintain them, eventually selling them when they couldn't maintain them, and these cars were recycled as scrap metal without being repaired. As a result, the number of cars being recirculated as used cars steadily decreased, leading to the current state of affairs, I suspect. It's a sad history. Having seen this history, I believe the vehicle I covered this time is extremely rare. "A new parallel import," "K series 4WD," "equipped with a 6.5-liter V8 turbo diesel," "exterior and interior in near-original condition," and other features make you wonder, "How could a vehicle like this still exist?" Calling it a "treasure" might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly a valuable vehicle. Body Tech Ortiz has previously photographed a rare Mercury, and when we visit Fukushima and other rural areas, we occasionally have these kinds of happy encounters! (lol) By the way, like the C1500 and Caprice, the Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari were likely imported in large numbers during the American car boom, and they are still seen today. However, the fact that these cars were officially imported and many were also imported as new cars is probably a major reason why they have survived to this day.
