Born in 1962 in Manchester, England, he began spinning records in the late 1970s, starting with funk, soul, and disco before becoming one of the earliest champions of house and techno as those genres exploded in the 1980s and 1990s. Cox’s reputation was built on his unmatched energy behind the decks: he often played on three turntables at once, layering tracks and rhythms to create a hypnotic, driving sound. His famous catchphrase, “Oh yes, oh yes!” became a rallying cry for fans worldwide. He rose to prominence through his residencies at some of the most iconic clubs and festivals — particularly Space Ibiza, where his marathon sets became the stuff of legend. Over the years, he’s also released numerous mixes and albums (like F.A.C.T., Global, and All Roads Lead to the Dancefloor), founded record labels such as Intec and 23rd Century Records, and remained a passionate ambassador for underground music.
