Mark Porter or Didley was born on October 2, 1974, in the city of Hamilton, located in the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. After getting inspired by his idol Peter Brock or Brocky Mark started his Bathurst 1000 career where he gained reputation as one of the most talented racers across Australia. With multiple V8 Supercar titles, Endurance races as well as some of the most impressive runs at the Bathurst 1000 he dominated the sport and left a deep mark on Australian racing world. Porter campaigned the No. 111 yellow Holden VZ Commodore and this was the car that would become his signature machine. By 2006, Porter was having a great season, again sitting third in the championship points standings, where he had just secured a race victory at Queensland Raceway. However, on October 6, 2006, during the second tier Fujitsu V8 Supercar development series, when finish line was within his reach, something unexpected happened.
