The UMM Project was born in France by the ingenious Bernard Cournil. The first cars were based on the Jeep Willys body, and thus the first UMM Cournil was born, a vehicle designed to work essentially in the field. In 1977, UMM - União Metalo-Mecânica - based in Queluz, Lisbon, took advantage of the concept, industrialized and modernized it, with the support of Mocar and Peugeot mechanics. This gave rise to a project of enormous national pride.
