Title: Keep Pretending Game: Resident Evil 5 Pairing: ShevaxChrisxJill For: 11Tiggers' contest WARNING!!! WARNING!!! RESIDENT EVIL 5 MAJOR FLIPPIN' SPOILERS! DO NOT WATCH IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED!!! ...unless you don't mind spoilers...then watch. So, the contest themes were love, love tragedy, and parody. I picked love/love tragedy. 'cause face it, I'm not good with mushy gushy love videos. ANYWAYS! So this is one-sided love on Sheva's part. Story: When Sheva first met Chris, she thought that he was wholly devoted to the BSAA's cause, with no other motive other than trying to rid the world of Umbrella. However, she later finds out that a major reason behind Chris working with her is to find his old Partner, Jill Valentine. She can tell from that moment on that nothing else matters. Not her life, not his life, not their battle with Umbrella, nothing. Sheva quickly begins to resent Chris' new motive, and what she once thought to be brave and suddenly become frustrating. She argues with him, says that even if they find Jill she probably won't be the woman he remembers, but he refuses to listen. There is no use, there is no place for Sheva with Chris. While Chris enjoys Sheva's company, and respects her as a partner, he doesn't see how much he hurts her while he hunts for Jill. But Sheva wasn't there from the beginning. Doesn't know of Raccoon City, the Arklay Mountains, the Spencer Estate...knows nothing of Wesker. So when they find Jill, Chris does not allow Sheva to hurt her. Won't even fight back when Jill easily pins him. Refuses to believe that the monster before him is his old partner. For a moment, Sheva believes that she was right. That they will have to take out Jill, and everything will be as it should be. With Chris at her side, taking down Umbrella. No past to hold him back, nothing to haunt their partnership. And then Jill fights back against whatever device Wesker was using to control her, and all Sheva's plans go down the hole. Chris runs forward as Jill collapses, apologizes in whispery breaths, and the trust between them--their past--hangs thick in the air. A shield, keeping Sheva further away from Chris. Sheva accepts the fact that she can never fill the place Jill had once left behind, and suddenly came back to reclaim. So when their fight with Wesker comes, thousands of feet high in the air, Sheva prepares herself. Chris opens the hatch, warns her to hold on, and when Wesker is blown from the back of the ship, he quickly grabs her ankle. She panics, and looks to the man who hangs above her with pleading eyes, and realizes that Chris doesn't see her. He sees Jill, falling with Wesker to their death at the Spencer Estate. Even now, in a moment of terror that holds her life in the balance, Chris can think of no one but Jill and his past mistakes. Suddenly she doesn't care. Her fight for a man whose heart has obviously been taken has been all for naught, in her last moments she cares only for one thing. The one goal she had originally joined the BSAA for. She'd die to rid the world of Umbrella. She let go of his hand forever. A/N So yea, love the mushy goodiness that is ANGST? Song: Fade to Black Now Author: ???
