Jazzation - Nica's Dream

Nica's Dream Music: Horace Silver Lyrics: Dee Dee Bridgewater Arranged for Jazzation by György Szentgallay Sound recorded, mixed and mastered by Bence Bobák DOP: Nóra Várallyay, Marci Bolyki Video edited by Nóra Várallyay Recorded at Lajtha House Studios, Hungary This video was filmed during the studio recording of Jazzation's vocal jazz album 'Pannonica'. With this album we want to remember Pannonica de Koenigswarter (1913-1988), also called "the Jazz Baroness", by tracing her life through our songs. She was born a British aristocrat, and got her unusual first name from a butterfly that her father, Charles Rothschild collected in Hungary. She had everything anyone could wish for, yet she longed for something wealth couldn't give her: real freedom. Crossing the Atlantic to follow the call of jazz, Nica became an iconic figure of the New York Jazz Club scene in the 50s and 60s. Using the privileges she was born into to lift up those who were affected by the segregation laws of the times, she had a lasting impact on the history of jazz itself. Thanks to her support, several artists developed their mastery and found their audience - this is why so many songs were written or dedicated to her - and in turn, Pannonica found her longed-for freedom too. Nica's Dream is our vision too: we believe that jazz can help us to shape a better, more accepting future - one harmony at a time. NICA'S DREAM A song happy and gay A song that we know All the musicians will play You know, so it would seem Everybody loves Nica's dream A song loaded with love A sweet melody Given by angels above You know, so it would seem Everybody loves Nica's dream She had a vision That jazz would one day be The music that's of the future, you see Don't you agree? We'll help to see that Her vision will come true And all the world will be Blessed by it too This song is here to stay, my friend! Just wait and see The people have made it Part of jazz history You know, so it would seem Everybody loves Nica's dream
