After defeating even his rival Koji Kanemoto and successfully defending the title five times in a row, Yamato was confronted by Shuji Kondo, the reigning champion of All Japan Pro Wrestling's "runaway King Kong," the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship. Shuji Kondo defeated Yoshinobu Kanemaru of NOAH in September 2012 to win the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship for the first time. He then defeated Atsushi Aoki and Kotaro Suzuki. He was so fierce that he defeated the elite Noah Junior wrestlers of the time. The first ever World Junior & GHC Junior double title match took place in an All Japan Pro Wrestling ring.
