Birstall Co-ops : A Virtual History Trail
This virtual tour examines aspects of the history of the Birstall Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd. The Co-op movement was brought to Birstall in 1865 by a group of workers from a local foundry and our presenter, Stephen Walker, takes us on a tour from the central stores around some of the main branches operating in the town. A factual history combined with photographs, archive images and anecdotes bring this fascinating subject to life. You can follow the trail at your own pace on Google Earth via this link (Google ID required) : https://tinyurl.com/r6xz9kd7 The books used for research can be found in the reference section at Birstall Library and, if you are interested in further details of any of the 'Little Books' mentioned in the talk please email The Little Book Club at [email protected]
