8 Rossetti Che Dovresti BUTTARE Via Subito (E 3 Che Sono Sicuri)

In February 2020, Altroconsumo submitted 14 lipsticks to a laboratory, along with other European consumer organizations. The result: 5 out of 14 contained MOAH, mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons—potentially carcinogenic substances banned in the food industry. Among those who failed: Kiko Milano, MAC, NYX, Too Faced, and Avril (organic brand). A woman ingests an average of 24 mg of lipstick per day, up to 87 mg for those who reapply frequently—about 4 kg in a lifetime (UC Berkeley, Environmental Health Perspectives). The UFC-Que Choisir test on lip balms failed 10 out of 21 products, including Labello, La Roche-Posay, Avène, Uriage, and Boiron—brands sold in pharmacies with MOAH concentrations 7-8 times higher than the recommended limit. A single balm contained 41% MOAH, compared to the recommended 5%. Kiko Milano, the best-selling makeup brand in Italy on Amazon, has a double problem: MOAH in its lipstick (Altroconsumo) and PFAS in its cosmetics (Euronews/Vert, October 2024). The surprise: Dior and Chanel, despite claiming to contain mineral oils, were completely MOAH-free—they purified properly. Avril, an Ecocert-certified organic brand, contained MOAH from contamination. Organic doesn't automatically mean safe.
