April Fools Bow 2015 - Making a 25-55 Pound Adjustable PVC Penobscot Inspired Double Bow

*Glass Buttes videos and updates to follow! See the bow shooting at 20:43 Happy April 1st everyone! It felt like time to do another unusual bow design because I haven't done one in a while. This bow, which is based on various double bow designs, was probably one of my most requested unusual bow design. While it may look strange, this design adds some things normally lacking in a single pipe PVC bow. The addition of the helper bow concentrates flex in the mid-limbs, giving this bow a truly non-flexing handle. This makes for a more forgiving and stable bow. Unlike adding fiberglass rods or doubling pipe, the helper bow increases performance without adding mass to the main bow. That means a faster, heavier bow in smaller pipe diameters. The bow's weight is also adjustable by tightening or loosening the helper strings. This bow is made of two 3/4" pipes, one cut to 52" and the other cut to 30". The bows are connected with duct-tape. While it may not seem like the most permanent connection, I haven't had any problems with it. Screws, bolts, zip-ties, wire, and other types of wrapping just seem to break the bow or loosen up.
