JR Central and the police conducted a suspicious person response drill ahead of the New Year's holiday. The scenario involved a man brandishing a knife on a train. The drill, conducted on December 6th on the JR Central Line between Kambara Station and Yui Station in Shizuoka Prefecture, involved approximately 40 participants, with police officers playing the role of the perpetrator and JR employees playing the role of passengers. "Hey, run!" "What's wrong? Please stay calm and put down the knife." This drill has been conducted annually since an assault incident occurred on Tokyo's Keio Line in 2021. Perpetrator "How long are you going to keep filming?" Trainer "Don't film." The train made an emergency stop, and police officers arrived and apprehended the man. The new 315 series trains used in this drill are equipped with security cameras and emergency call devices, strengthening their emergency response capabilities.
