The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed the chronology of the escape of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby and Regional Secretary Zulkarnain during a sting operation (OTT) on Monday, June 29, 2026. The two regional officials disappeared and attempted to destroy evidence before finally surrendering to the anti-corruption agency. The KPK initially searched for Regent Suhardiman Amby at his official residence and Kuansing Regency government offices. However, the investigative team did not find the targets of the operation at all. Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, believes the two officials had already left Kuansing Regency by the time the investigative team arrived. Taufik stated that the field team had received information about the presence of a pick-up party, but the KPK chose to focus on pursuing the suspects. "So, when the team in the field secured the suspects, based on public reports received, we searched the official residence and the Kuansing Regency government office, but the team couldn't find them," said Taufik at the KPK's Red and White Building in South Jakarta, Wednesday (July 1, 2026).
