There's a series on Netflix called "New Amsterdam." It's a screenplay adaptation of a book inspired by real life events. In it, a neurologist and a psychiatrist work with a patient diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) who has struggled to recover. The psychiatrist describes PTSD as "a condition that prevents a person from seeing light and hope." It has a subjective nature; When two people experience the same event, one may be traumatized and the other may not. One person may be traumatized by a minor event, while a more major event may not. Experiencing differences can also be observed between societal and personal traumas. It turns out that traumas experienced in childhood can manifest as PTSD in adulthood, and for example, a specialist you see for a sleep problem might diagnose you with PTSD. After graduating from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry, she worked as a research assistant in the Physiology Department of Aurhus Commune Hospital on a Danish government scholarship. She immigrated to Canada in 1983 and worked as a departmental research assistant in the Physiology Department at the University of Ottawa. She completed a four-year program at the Institute of Addiction and Mental Health at the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine. She worked as a clinician at the Royal Ottawa Psychiatric Hospital for 25 years. Currently, she serves as a coordinator and instructor in the "Training of Family Physicians in the Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Psychological Disorders" program, supported by PAHO, the World Health Organization, the Canadian Ministry of Health, and the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. Her primary research interest is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Pınar Cohen After completing her undergraduate degree in Psychological Counseling and Guidance at Marmara University, she completed her master's degree in Applied Psychology at Istanbul Commerce University and her master's and doctoral degrees in Social Sciences at the Istanbul University Institute of Forensic Medicine. She has also completed various professional certification programs. She continues her work in the field of psychotherapy, particularly in psychological trauma and family/couple therapy. She is a part-time lecturer at various foundation universities. Özüm Özbay She completed her primary education at TED Ankara College and her undergraduate studies in the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Middle East Technical University. She earned her master's degree in Organizational Social Psychology from the London School of Economics & Political Sciences. Throughout middle and high school, she represented her country in various international competitions as a member of the Turkish National Swimming Team. Since 2010, she has been working professionally as a career coach and organizational psychologist.
