The Wolfgang S-Line Lives - Collins Legacy
This is the Wolfgang S-Line, a full Collins station with a history worth preserving. It began with Wolfgang VK3WY, a respected figure in the VK Collins community. When Wolfgang stepped back from radio, the station moved to Wayne VK2VRC, who looked after it for many years before deciding it was time for someone new to continue the story. I was fortunate enough to be chosen to take on that responsibility. This setup includes a Collins 32S-3 transmitter, 75S-3B receiver and 312B-4 station control, along with a custom 516F-2 style power supply built to Wolfgang’s preferences. For extra punch on the air, the signal chain runs into an Ameritron AL-82. Collins equipment has earned its reputation through real world use. From military phone patches during the Vietnam era to embassy backup links when the main circuits failed, these radios proved themselves by doing one thing consistently — working when they were needed most. No firmware. No endless menus. No software crashes. Just a clean signal and a design that stands on its own. If you appreciate classic gear, vacuum tubes and honest radio work, this is for you. Thanks for being here and for helping keep equipment like this on the air where it belongs. 📡 SUBSCRIBE TO VK3USA – REAL HAM RADIO 🎙️ Real tubes. Real rigs.
