Over the course of 3 days, I explored some of the most beautiful and lesser-known spots in and around Bir-Billing: ⛰️ Hanuman Garh Hike - A scenic and lesser-known hike above Rajgundha valley, Hanuman Garh rewards you with breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar range and Kangra plains. The trailhead lies about 1.5 hours from Bir by road, followed by a 3-hour climb through dense forests and open meadows. 🏔️ Palachak Hike - One of Rajgundha’s most beautiful hidden gems, the Palachak hike takes you deep into oak and pine forests, across glacial streams, and into an untouched Himalayan valley. Start from Bir, drive up to Rajgundha (around 1.5 hours), and hike further into the wilderness - a true offbeat adventure beyond paragliding. 🛕 Mata Maheshwari Temple - Perched on a quiet ridge above Ahju village, this ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Maheshwari offers panoramic sunset views of the Kangra valley. You can drive from Bir (about 6 km) and hike the final 2 km to reach the top - a short trail lined with pines and silence. 📍 Sherabling Monastery - Hidden amidst the deodar and pine forests near Bir, Sherabling Monastery is a spiritual retreat founded by the 12th Tai Situpa of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. From Bir village, it’s just a 15-minute drive (around 6 km) through Bhattu forest - a peaceful escape where prayer flags and chants fill the mountain air.
