"This isn’t an explanation to the world for why I’m playing video games with my little sister instead of breaking down." We just had soldiers come to our door and hand us a demolition notice for our house. The house we’ve been living in for less than two years after spending 10 years building it. The house that stands on land my grandfather inherited from his father. And just like that they want it gone. I’ve written a lot about the idea of home. About how much I love it. I talk a lot about my love for things so I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise that I love the house that’s holding all of my things. But it’s never really been about the things themselves. It’s about what they carry. The memories. The life that happened around them. The feeling that no matter what the day looked like, I got to come back here. This isn’t an explanation to the world for why I’m playing video games with my little sister instead of breaking down. This is me trying so hard not to break down. Because if one person breaks down in this family, it’s game over. Everyone else WILL break down too. So for now we’ll play. We’ll laugh when we can. We’ll keep making videos. Not because everything is okay, but because sometimes that’s the only way we know how to keep going. 8/7/26
