CENTENARY UK COMMEMORATION OF GALLIPOLI CAMPAIGN AND ANZAC DAY AT THE CENOTAPH, WHITEHALL, LONDON 25 APRIL 2015 The National Commemoration of the centenary of the Gallipoli campaign and Anzac Day took place at the Cenotaph, Whitehall, London today 25 April 2015. Attended by Her Majesty The Queen, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duke of Cambridge, Government and international representatives, the ceremony paid tribute to the 58,000 Allies and 87,000 Ottoman Forces who lost their lives in the campaign. UK Armed Forces, international military representatives and descendants of those who served in the campaign attend the ceremony. After a two-minute silence at 1100, Her Majesty The Queen laid a wreath, followed by the national commemoration, which included readings by young people from the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Turkey, and famous songs from the period performed by UK and international military bands.Turkish Air Force Band also performed at the ceremony for the first time ever after the Gallipoli War of 1915.
