The Wreck of USS Baltimore - A Forgotten Shipwreck Near Hawaii
No, not the Baltimore you're probably thinking of. Today's video will be looking to one of the more...forgotten shipwrecks out there. USS Baltimore, the protected cruiser of the 1890s. A ship that saw good service in the Spanish-American War, including at Manila Bay. Baltimore would continue in service after that war, as well, lasting through not just World War One...but most of WW2, as well. However, after 1922, she was reduced to an immobile hulk in Pearl Harbor. This allowed her to be present on December 7th, 1941, though she avoided any damage. Baltimore would, instead, be scuttled in 1944. Where her wreck remained, until it was discovered less than a decade ago. In late 2017. One of very few ships of her vintage to be found in such good shape. ...relatively speaking, of course.
