I feel the dictionaries of all the world and the beyond would not be enough for this beautiful and bittersweet love story. What happened between the real Spiro and Louisa will remain a hidden secret, taken with them in the afterlife, but in this masterpiece of a TV adaptation, these two people met their soulmate the moment Spiros pressed his car's horn that very morning, in 1935, while driving up a hill to help a family of 5. Always by their side, helping and supporting the Durrells, offering to be there for all of them whenever they needed him (or not), Spiros did become the 6th Durrell and the man that won Louisa's heart from the start, even if neither admitted it out loud. If there's one thing that these two taught us is that sometimes true love is right in front of us and we should grasp it at once, because you never know what awaits you the next morning. Once again, I cannot thank Alexis Georgoulis enough, for believing in this story even before anyone else considered it as a possibility. And of course, words will always fail me when it comes to the insanely amazing Keeley Hawes, whose love for the Durrells and her devotion to Louisa gave us the most lovable imperfect TV mama of all time, one who everyone in the world wished to get the happiest of endings... Or rather, the happiest new beginning!
