Getting Started With Jazz Standards - Billie's Bounce
This week we're starting an introduction to learning jazz standards with a look at a Charlie Parker classic: Billie's Bounce. This is a Jazz Blues in F and we're going to work through the melody (head). Over the next few weeks we'll also break down the harmony, learn to walk through the changes and look at some solo ideas. Bebop melodies are great musical material for practice at any level because they contain interesting chromatic movement and angular leaps. This is all great for your bass technique and phrasing.
