Ponyo Revealed: The Real Mythology & Folklore Explained!

Ponyo or "Ponyo on the Cliff" is Hayao Miyazaki 's 10th feature film as director. Like most of Miyazaki's films, this tale about a magical Goldfish turned Little Girl adapts mythology and other culture. Miyazaki was quite public about one of these sources: "The little mermaid" fairytale, but I believe there is far more to Ponyo than Hans Christian Anderson's story.
