Adventure | Explore | Experience About this Video: Chaukhandi graveyard is in Karachi. Traveling through Shahrah-e-Faisal to go towards N5 National Highway. This Graveyard/Qabristan/Kabristan was build during Mughal Empire time in 15th to 18 centuary. Jokhio and Kilmati tribes had build these tombs and graves. Jam Mureed Bin Haji Tomb is the famous in Chaukhandi graveyard. His Father Jam Haji was a commander in the Mughal Army. Hard rocks were cutted and yellow sandstone designing work had been done on these graves and tombs. Actual dead body was burried arround 5 feet down the Earth then a Tomb was made above the actual grave. Arround 1500 graves are there in Chaukhandi graveyard and about 30 percent are in good condition. Application was also put up to the UNESCO World heritage to consider this graveyard as National Heritage. A proper funding is not available therefore the repair and maintenance work is insufficicent here. Most of the graves and tombs are getting damaged due to weather and seepage of earth.
