Himalayan Challenge in My Youngest Days (Mustang Trekking EP2) "Starting from Kagbeni and following the Kali Gandaki River, we finally enter Upper Mustang, a great wilderness where the Earth's deep sea rises up. We head toward Chaile, bidding farewell to the bizarre clay figures 'Keni' encountered in the alleyways of Kagbeni. The red canyons, carved by fierce winds and the Kali Gandaki River over millions of years, overwhelm the viewer. Passing through abstract villages that resemble oases blooming on the barren land, we continue our breathless challenge toward Chaile, the fortress atop the cliff." 📅 Schedule and Detailed Route [DAY 19] March 25: Over the Wailing Red Cliffs to Chaile, the Cliff Fortress! Hiking Route: Depart from Kagbeni (2,800m) → A cup of tea at Tangbe (3,060m) village → Lunch at Chhusang (2,980m) village → Walk along the riverbed of Kali Gandaki and cross the bridge → Arrive at Tsaile/Chele (3,050m) Hiking Information: Distance approx. 15.5km / Duration approx. 7 hours 30 minutes / A journey of ascending altitude while facing sheer vertical cliffs side by side with biting afternoon dust winds 🏔️ Scenery and Enlightenment Encountered on the Path Walking along the Kali Gandaki River, endless vertical cliffs of massive ochre and red hues rise on both sides, seemingly piercing the sky. This place, once the bottom of the blue sea (Thethys Sea) in the distant past, rose due to continental collisions, became sedimentary layers of an ancient lake, and was subsequently carved out by fierce winds and currents—a work of art created by time. The ammonite fossils kicked up underfoot stand as a testament to the great history of the Earth. Passing the rough gravel fields of the wide-spreading Kali Gandaki River, we finally cross the river, and a nearly vertical, steep climb begins toward Chaile.
