Among these, 17 cases have been officially confirmed by Japan as definitely being linked to North Korea’s abduction efforts. Besides THOSE cases, there are 17 more, confirmed by Japan as DEFINITELY being linked to North Korea. But in 2002, Kim Jong-Il admitted to only 13 such kidnappings—Japanese citizens who were taken against their will, forced to live in North Korea, and denied the chance to return home.
