Building a Cougar MRAP Diorama from a Real Afghanistan Mission

During my deployment to Afghanistan, our unit would escort the Human Relations Team to meetings with local leaders in Spin Boldak. While the meetings took place inside the compound, our job was to provide security from the courtyard outside. In this video, I recreate one of those memories in 1/35 scale using a Cougar MRAP, Trumpeter modern U.S. Army figures, and a custom-built compound inspired by the places we visited during deployment. From groundwork and weathering to painting Multicam uniforms and adding the dust that covered everything in Afghanistan, this build is more than just a model—it's a small piece of a memory brought back to life. If you enjoy military modeling, diorama building, weathering techniques, and stories from military service, you're in the right place.
