The Critical Evolution of Comedy | Douglas Lim | TEDxUTAR
This comedian is not here just to tell some jokes, he is about to get serious. Talking about something rarely spoken on stage, he delivers the essence of comedy; the critical evolution of comedy. When it comes to comedy in Malaysia, Douglas Lim is the one that comes to our minds. His natural ability in bringing laughter to people from all walks of life has earned him the name of King of Malaysian Comedy. After playing as Steven the Stylist on “Kopitiam” - Malaysia’s most successful English Sitcom, he was being nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy in the Asian Television Awards. Since then, he has starred and featured in local movies, TV shows, musicals, and comedy showcases; for examples, Hati Malaya, Homecoming, P. Ramlee, and Kings and Queen of Comedy Asia. In 2009, Douglas started and headlined Malaysia’s most successful Stand-up Comedy Tour Group - the Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians. From 2009 onwards, the tickets for the shows played were all sold-out and their shows are the most anticipated annual comedy shows in Malaysia. Moreover, many top corporations; for instance, Petronas, TM, and Nestle, has invited him for their events, in which he often becomes the highlight of those events. His emceeing services are undoubtedly amazing and is very much proven from the returning demands from the corporations.
