ЁЯУНWeir Fort | Once upon a time, the fort used to resonate with the hustle and bustle of the queens, and today it is immersed in its silence. @Gyanvikvlogs ЁЯУМYou can join us other social media Weir town is located 48 km southwest of Bharatpur district headquarters, 58 km southwest of Deeg, 17 km northwest of Bayana and 13 km east of Bhusavar. Eighteenth century court writers Acharya Somnath and Sudan etc. have written it as Bairigarh. It is believed that there was abundance of berries or raspberries around this city due to which it came to be known as Bair, Vari or Vairigarh. It did not have political importance during the Mughal period or before that, due to which no written record of this place is available from that period. The first written evidence found so far is in the form of an Athsate of the year 1694 AD. According to this Athsate, the name of the village was Bair and the people of Jat caste had the land ownership here. It is also known that at that time (1694 AD) it came under Bhusawar Pargana. Administrative management of Vaira During the Sultanate period or before that it was under Bayana Pargana/Sarkar/Dastur Circle. In the later years, this area was given to the governorship of the rulers of Jaipur state. After this, when the people of the entire area took up arms under the leadership of Sinsinwar Jats, it was not possible for the King of Jaipur, Sawai Jai Singh, to keep this area under his control. Finally, Jai Singh called Pratap Singh, son of Badan Singh, the ruler of the Jat state, to his military cantonment in Jaisinghpura, Mathura. According to the custom of the community, on 30 April 1725, Jai Singh gave Pratap Singh the lease of Jat-Gujar dominated villages of Pargana Bhusawar in the Mathura cantonment. After this, suppressing some rebel local landlords, Badan Singh took over Bhusawar, Todabhim and Bayana etc. areas and established peace. Establishment of Vairagarh Badan Singh formed a new pargana named Vaira in the middle of pargana Bhusawar, Bayana and Uchain at the end of 1725 AD. Badan Singh gave this area to his son Pratap Singh as a jagir. This jagir included an area with an annual deposit of five lakh rupees. About two hundred villages, including real and daakhili, were attached to this jagir. Ballabhgarh, located to its west, was made a separate pargana. The villages situated in the hilly area of тАЛтАЛthe south, Jahaj, Hadoti, Umred and Tuhari were kept under the estate of Vaira. In 1726 AD, when the foundation of the forts of Deeg and Kumher was laid, the foundation of Vairagarh was laid at almost the same time. Pratap Singh had a special interest in architecture and he got this fort constructed under his supervision. Construction of Vairagarh There was a huge mound of old times here, surrounding which the foundation of this fort was laid. A deep ditch was built around the fort for security. This ditch was always filled with water. A canal was dug till Sita Dam to fill water, which was called Sita Canal. This type of ditch can also be seen around the forts of Deeg and Bharatpur. Residential houses, court, gunpowder store, armory, military residence etc. were built in the fort. A main canal, some wells and two stepwells were also constructed for water supply. Two main gates were built for entry into the fort, which are called eastern and western gates. The new town was settled outside the ditch below the fort in front of the eastern main gate. The entire Vaira town was inside the raw rampart. An outer rampart was built for its security. This rampart included the area of тАЛтАЛthe ancient Vaira town and Nayavas village. The rampart was raw and its circumference was about two km. A deep ditch was also built outside this rampart. But this ditch is now completely filled up. Hardly any of it exists. Five concrete gates were built inside this rampart to enter the town. Bharatpur and Kumher gates in the north, Bayana gate in the east, Sita gate in the south and Bhusavar gate in the west are still present. Heavy and huge gates were installed on these gates on which iron sheets and thick nails were installed. Marhala (cannons) were kept in the outer parts for the security of these gates. The main attraction of Vaira is its Phulwadi. It is located on the northern side of the fort. The Red Palace and the White Palace are worth seeing in it. A pond has been built in front of the White Palace. Attractive fountains have been built in rows all around. A huge tank has been built on the roof to fill water to run these fountains. These fountains are an excellent example of Jat and Mughal style. This arrangement of fountains is even older than Deeg. It seems that the idea of тАЛтАЛbuilding the water palaces of Deeg must have been taken from the Phulwadi of Vaira. You must have seen a white marble swing situated in front of Gopal Bhawan in the palaces of Deeg. This swing was built by Mug...
