Following my last solo trip to Korea, I went on a 3-night, 4-day solo trip to Taiwan! ☺️🙏 The weather was warm and comfortable! 😳 I'm thinking about where I should go next... ☆I'm giving away two keychains. If you have a JCB or AMEX card, bring plenty of cash. On the other hand, if you have a VISA or MasterCard card, it's convenient because it can be used almost everywhere except at food stalls! [I was able to use AMEX at the 101 building, large shopping malls, tickets to Jiufen, and even Starbucks!] ② It was warm and comfortable, but I felt like there were a lot of mosquitoes. [I fell asleep for about an hour and got bitten five times. 】 So, I think sprays and anti-itch medications are probably sold locally, so it's a good idea to prepare some. _____________________________________ ・Reservation Site Summary Currently, when returning to Japan, you cannot return without proof of three or more COVID-19 vaccinations and a negative PCR test taken locally within 72 hours of departure. [I've only had two doses so far, and I'm planning on getting my third soon.] However, unlike South Korea, Taiwan does not have public PCR testing facilities at airports, so you must take a PCR test at a government-certified hospital within 72 hours of departure. It seems they accept appointments from 9:30 to 10:30 on the day, but there's a long line around 9:30, so arriving around 9:00 will help you get an earlier appointment. When you arrive on the day, there will be a notice on the wall to the left of the entrance. Provide your name and number to the receptionist there. You line up with that document, pay on site by credit card or cash, and take the PCR test. The price was higher than I expected, at 4,500 NTD. When it's time to board the plane, the certificate will arrive by email a few hours after the test, so just show that document when you check in. It's on a dimly lit street, but it's easily accessible, with Ximending and Taipei Main Station both about a 5-minute walk away. [Second Night] Chiu Chunt Dint Inn https://www.agoda.com/en-jp/chiu-chun... It's beautiful and located in the heart of Jiufen, so I highly recommend it! It also has a restaurant and cafe, which is great. Apparently, there's a king suite room one floor above my room, which is amazing! [Bookings tend to fill up quickly, so if you want to go, book early.] _______________________________________ ・Access ① Access to Taipei The purple MRT (subway) runs from Taoyuan Airport, so you can get there in one go. ② Access to 101 From Taipei Station, take the red MRT (Danshui-Xinyi Line) for about 15 minutes. Take the train heading towards Xiangshan. ③ Access to Jiufen I went by train, but it seems you can also take the bus. If you're traveling by train, take the TRA (Taiwan Railways) instead of the subway. Since Ruifang Station is the closest station, you can get there in one go. I boarded from platform 4, but it's a good idea to ask a station attendant. [Note: The TRA is not a subway.] ④ Access to Shilin Night Market You can get there by taking the red MRT (Tamsui-Xinyi Line), the same line as the 101. However, if you're traveling from Taipei Station, it's the opposite direction from the 101, so take the line heading towards Tamsui. The closest station is Jiantan Station.
