What do we do with our sexual needs? As John Paul II says, “The very manner in which we conceive of our sexual desires must be, from the start, to the greatest extent possible, freed from purely impulse-oriented, naturalistic presuppositions and shaped personalistically. To put that in layman’s terms: “You’re not an animal.” In order to answer the question, “What are we to do with our sexual needs,” we must first look at our understanding of sexual needs. Do we truly have sexual needs?
