ETAPA 15. CASTROJERIZ a FRÓMISTA. CAMINO FRANCÉS.

25 km STAGE 15. CASTROJERIZ TO FRÓMISTA. FRENCH WAY. Just over 1.5 km from the start in Castrojeriz, we face the formidable climb to Alto de Mostelares. This is the only section of the route where hikers can catch up with the cyclists, who suffer immensely until they reach the summit. From here, it's practically flat until the Montes de León mountains, almost 200 km away. The Pisuerga River marks the border between the two provinces. After the hermitage of San Nicolás (km 9), we cross the bridge, leaving Burgos and entering Palencia. We arrive in Itero de la Vega (km 10.8), which has shops and hostels for overnight stays. We continue along farm tracks and begin to notice the entrance to Tierra de Campos; vast expanses of wheat fields, cereal crops, dovecotes, etc. The summer sun is relentless. It's essential to get up early and arrive at your destination promptly. Boadilla del Camino, at kilometer 19, also has several hostels. The Rollo Jurisdiccional, a 15th-century Gothic-style column, is a notable landmark, located next to the Church of the Annunciation. Just outside Boadilla, we come across the Canal de Castilla, which we follow parallel to it until we reach the gates of Frómista, at kilometer 25. We stayed at the Estrella del Camino hostel, which is quite good. The Church of San Martín, one of the treasures of Spanish Romanesque architecture, built in the 11th century, is also worth mentioning.
