Underground Railroad House - the Pines!
Learn more about the Pines, a documented Underground Railroad site near Kennett Square, Pennsylvania! It was built by William Gillingham in 1823 and later was the home of Bartholomew Fussell, both of whom were Quaker medical doctors and conductors on the Underground Railroad. Guest star Karen Marshall (recently retired Heritage Preservation Coordinator for Chester County) shares the history, followed by Seth discussing the architecture of the building. Seth is a Heritage Documentation Practitioner who completed a Historic Structures Report on the Pines about 10 years ago. The house was renovated in the Colonial Revival style circa 1920. It is currently owned by Kennett Township. --------------------------------------------- Chapters: 0:00 - The Pines 0:22 - Karen's history 4:32 - Exterior 6:03 - First Floor 9:48 - Upstairs 11:48 - Basement 13:53 - Outro --------------------------------------------- My website: www.old-doors.info Video filmed using a Sony HDR-CX405 Handycam #historichouses #oldhouses #undergroundrailroad #architecture #architecturalstyles #federalstyle #colonialrevival #fussell #karenmarshall
