The railway line from Venlo to Viersen in Germany was a very important freight railway before the opening of the Betuweroute. If the Betuweroute is closed, many freight trains are diverted over the railway at Venlo. When I was here, quite a lot of freight was diverted. ICE3 trains were also diverted.
