Schnittpunkt Kugel-Kugel berechnen, Beispiel 1 | V.06.10

Intersection of two spheres: When two spheres intersect, a circle of intersection is formed. In 3D, there is no equation for a circle, so one usually has to calculate the center and radius of the intersection. A trick is used for this: Expand ALL parentheses in both equations of the spheres (if they aren't already) and subtract the equations from each other. This immediately yields a coordinate equation of the plane in which the intersection lies. Now, using this plane of intersection and one of the two equations of the spheres, you continue the calculation, reducing the whole thing to: "Intersection of plane and sphere".
