Panasonic Magic Stop

On this week's edition of "Holy Grail", we have a Panasonic 12" Magic Stop table fan model F-30EUB, made some time between 1968 and 1971, as indicated by the fact that this fan bears Panasonic's 1968 logo on its base plate, making this fan relatively early compared to what we're used to seeing. Like its more recent counterparts, it has Panasonic's unique 5-way oscillation feature, which allows the user to adjust the fan's oscillation arc between 90/0, 67.5/22.5, 45/45, 22.5/67.5, and 0/90, and also has the solid state 'Magic Stop' circuitry which brings the blade to a near-instant halt when the cage is touched. Oh! And this one has FOUR speeds! "Soft", medium, high and "super high". Now, super high, high, and medium are like the typical Panasonic high, medium and low on later fans, and the "soft" speed is slow enough to be dead silent, but still enough to stir a gentle breeze, which, considering the width and pitch of the blades, doesn't surprise me. In fact, this fan pushes an absolutely ferocious amount of air. Overall, it's just such a unique fan and I am over the moon to have such a rarity in my collection!
