The Russian rear is no longer safe. Ukraine is pushing the war deeper into Russia, destroying the system that allowed Putin to wage war for years with virtually no consequences for his own population. Yuriy Romanenko examines the strategic significance of Ukrainian deep strikes. The range of drones and missiles is expanding, the strike zone is becoming more concentrated, and Russian authorities are already forced to discuss evacuating populations from border areas. The front line is no longer limited to trenches – it encompasses logistics, ports, warehouses, oil refineries, and transport corridors. A separate area of ​​this war is Crimea. Ukraine is systematically destroying the peninsula's fuel and transport infrastructure, striking the Novorossiya highway, and creating conditions that are making it increasingly difficult to supply the occupied territories. The Crimean Bridge remains under threat, and Russian propaganda can no longer maintain the image of a protected and sacred peninsula. The struggle for the Black Sea is no less important. Russia is attempting to paralyze Ukrainian ports and trade, and Ukraine is responding with strikes against Russian ports, tankers, and oil infrastructure. A significant portion of Russia's foreign trade, including oil and grain, passes through the southern corridor. Disrupting these flows directly reduces the revenues used by the Kremlin to finance the war. Romanenko disputes the notion that all Ukrainian resources should be directed exclusively to the front. In modern warfare, the front depends on the rear: if warehouses, factories, transport, and sources of funding are destroyed, drones, weapons, and ammunition cannot reach the front lines. A strike on a major logistics facility could alleviate the situation for Ukrainian troops more than a localized strike on the line of contact. The story of the destroyed Wildberries warehouses also demonstrates the social dimension of deep strikes. The strikes affected Russian retailers, exposed the unequal playing field for local businesses and Chinese suppliers, and fueled resentment against monopolies and the state. Economic losses are turning into political anger, which is directed not only against Ukraine but also against Moscow. This is precisely what the Kremlin has been trying to avoid since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Putin maintained stability while the Russian home front barely felt the effects of the war. Now residents are waking up to explosions, facing fuel shortages, lost goods, shuttered businesses, and the destruction of their traditional economic life. A political analyst emphasizes: the gap between the Russian elite and society is widening. The authorities continue to feign stability while oil refineries, warehouses, and ports burn. The more reality diverges from the televised image, the greater the risk that pent-up frustration will escalate into a political crisis. Ukraine's strategy is not only to destroy military installations but also to destroy the very stability that sustained Putin's war.
