Bain Fire Threatens Homes In Jurupa Valley

At approximately 11:24 a.m. on May 19, 2026, firefighters responded to a fast-moving brush fire burning in the Santa Ana River bottom near Van Buren Boulevard and Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley. Fueled by wind and thick brush, the fire rapidly spread through the riverbed, threatening homes in both Jurupa Valley and Riverside while prompting mandatory evacuations and widespread road closures. By midnight, the fire had grown to more than 1,300 acres. Multiple agencies responded to the blaze alongside air tankers and water-dropping helicopters as crews worked throughout the day and night to stop the fire’s spread. At the Western Riverside County Animal Shelter, firefighters were seen actively protecting the facility as flames approached the fence line. Crews also worked to move animals, including pigs and dogs, to safety during the height of the fire threat. Authorities reported four injuries, including three people suffering smoke inhalation and another with traumatic injuries. All were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Power lines in the area were reportedly de-energized due to dangerous fire conditions, and evacuation centers were established for displaced residents.
