Fenster in die frühe Kirche - Die Didache (4/4) Praxis - Lehrer, Propheten und Gastfreundschaft
The Didache is one of the earliest Christian writings after the New Testament. This "Teaching of the Apostles," or "Teaching of the Lord through the 12 Apostles," is, in its first part, a kind of introduction to Christianity and certainly served as a teaching manual for accompanying and instructing people who wanted to become Christians. From today's perspective, it is striking that the focus is not so much on the content of faith—this is apparently assumed. Instead, very concrete statements are made about how followers of Jesus should live their lives. The second part of the Didache deals with very practical questions such as: "How should one baptize?" - "How should we deal with traveling prophets?" - "How do we celebrate the memorial meal—the thanksgiving meal (Eucharist/Lord's Supper)?" Here, too, the Didache provides us with fascinating insights into the early days of the Christian community. Prof. Dr. Dr. Roland Werner is a staff member at the Zinzendorf Institute in Marburg and teaches at the Evangelical University Tabor, also in Marburg. He is one of the initiators of "glaubendenken."
