Forgotten Relics From the Past — Rediscovered!

Beneath the thick bush and quiet riverbanks of Corinna lies the ghost of a bustling gold-rush township. On this very spot, more than a century ago, stood the Star Hotel — its Huon Pine timber balcony crowded with miners fresh from the diggings, its verandah echoing with music, laughter, and the clink of glasses. Steamers from Launceston would dock at the jetty below, unloading supplies and new faces eager for gold. Across the river stood the rough township of Corinna, making this bend in the Pieman the social hub of the wild west coast. But today on the south side, the crowds have vanished, the music has faded, and all that remains is rainforest reclaiming the ground.
