JBugs - 2332cc EMPI Engine Battle World Cup VW Engine Build

That time has finally come though and with Sam and JBugs being invited back for EMPI's 2026 Engine Battle - World Cup, the wait is over! Sam and his son Nate (now a part time employee at JBugs) pick up where Sam left off 2 years ago. The pair finish the assembly of an "off the shelf" 2332cc Engine Build with the goal of seeing what a performance engine, built with street driving in mind, with no custom machine work, will do on the dyno. So, unlike the last time where Sam had the brand new cylinder heads milled out to bump up the compression, this time the engine is being assembled as safely as possible. The stock EMPI Stage 3 GTV-2 heads are installed on top of Mahle 94mm forged pistons and the other accompanying parts with .040" of deck height and will set the compression ratio at about 9.2:1. Inside the case, a new EMPI GT-7 camshaft takes the place where an Engle FK8 used to sit, just underneath an overkill 84mm stroked flanged crankshaft that was balanced by DPR 2 years ago.
