Oyunlar NEDEN Eskisi Kadar ZEVK Vermiyor?

Why Are Games Not as Fun as They Used to Be? Globally, the gaming industry has transformed into a massive entertainment industry, larger than the combined film and music industries. Thousands of games are released every day, from independent producers (indie) to billion-dollar budget (AAA) companies. As technology advances, graphics are becoming more realistic, AI is making in-game worlds more vibrant, and cross-platform support allows PC, console, and mobile players to meet in the same world. However, there's another side to the coin. Globally, the industry is facing serious criticism for its homogenization, copycat games, and systems that constantly force players to spend money (microtransactions/pay-to-win). 🇹🇷 Why Are People Losing Interest in Games in Türkiye? The main factors that have caused Turkish gamers to distance themselves from games or lose their desire to play in recent years, which are frequently discussed by game analysts and "game review" and "gaming" channels on YouTube, are as follows: 1. Economic Burden and the Disappearance of the "Price/Performance" Curve The biggest dilemma for gamers in Türkiye is the economy. Hardware Inaccessibility: Building a computer that can run current games at high settings or buying next-generation consoles has become a serious luxury. Gamers whose technology is outdated cannot experience newly released games. Game Prices: Having to pay thousands of lira for a game due to the removal of local pricing or currency updates has turned gaming from a "hobby" into a luxury consumption. Consequently, people have very high expectations from the games they buy, and the slightest disappointment causes them to completely lose interest in the game. 2. Game Structures That Feel Like a "Second Job" (Live-Service) Older generation gamers were used to opening a game, finishing its story, and closing it. Modern games (Battle Pass systems, daily tasks, endless seasons) demand a lot of time from the player. A person returning from school or work, exhausted, instead of relaxing in a game, faces the stress of "If I don't do these tasks today, I'll miss out on the reward," and after a while, they completely remove the game from their lives. 3. Toxic Players and Cheaters in Competitive Games Free-to-play competitive games (FPS and MOBA genres) are among the most played games in Türkiye. As criticized in many community videos on YouTube, the overly aggressive, abusive, and toxic player base in these games is psychologically draining. When you add the inadequacy of anti-cheat systems, players who can't find a fair competitive environment become disillusioned and leave the system. 4. Getting Older and the Nostalgia for "Not Getting the Same Old Feeling" This is the main theme of "Why were old games better?" videos on YouTube. As people get older, responsibilities increase, and the time allocated to games decreases. The pure sense of discovery experienced in childhood or early adolescence is gradually replaced by the feeling of "I've played this before" (due to the genres repeating themselves too much) as we grow older. 5. Decrease in Game Variety and Creativity Large game companies constantly reheat and serve up the same formulas to avoid taking risks (e.g., Identical open-world games). The player abandons the game halfway through when they realize they're only clearing question marks on the map and not actually experiencing a real story.
