Pigpen - Solo Acoustic - Family Dog 4/18/70
Katie Mae (Incomplete) Ain't it Crazy (The Rub) (Fades in) Roberta Bring Me My Shotgun The Mighty Flood Black Snake Ron "Pigpen" McKernan Recorded at the Family Dog concert hall in San Francisco on April 18, 1970 Pig's set is two Lightnin' Hopkins covers, two originals/ad-libs and two John Lee Hooker covers. Given his more limited guitar skills, he stays in the same key and reuses the same couple of riffs for all songs. Setlists for decades included an unidentified "Walk Down the Street". It was later secured that this is Hopkins' Bring Me My Shotgun. But wait. While that song was missed by setlists, note that Pig plays that for a bit, but then he does continue with an original, featuring the "Walk Down the Street" lyrics. He also ad-libs through part of John Lee Hooker's Tupelo Blues (The Flood). Most of these pics, and more, can be seen here: http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2013/0...
