It replaced the circuit's newsreel, Universal News, which had become increasingly irrelevant in the face of more immediate news media, particularly television. Marvellously concise and beautifully shot, they were light in style and depicted aspects of life in Britain at that time, especially the so called 'swinging' Britain era. Over 500 episodes, all in colour, were produced.
