Three Danish Folk Dances on Hurdy Gurdy
Dronemusik Danmark is a danish organisation, dedicated to the preservation of old drone-instruments like the Drejelire (Hurdy-Gurdy), Sækkepibe (Bagpipe), and Nyckelharpa. Nicolas Koch Simms and Troels Dueholm Nørgaard, two members of the organisation, played a few tunes at a big folk concert at ALICE CPH earlier in September, which we were lucky to record! Dronemusik Danmark have done so many great things for the folk music community in Denmark! Recently, they crowdfunded a drone-instrumentbank to give children in musicschools the opportunity to play these amazing, (but very expensive!), instruments. Check out their work here: https://dronemusik.dk/ Nicolas Koch Simms - Hurdy Gurdy (left) Troels Dueholm Nørgaard - Hurdy Gurdy (right) FOLK is your guide to scandinavian folk music in all its shapes and forms.
