EBSD-based correlative microscopy
Correlative microscopy is a method where the same area of a sample is imaged using different techniques. This allows various material properties to be linked with particular aspects of the microstructure. As electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) provides vital information on crystallographic orientation, linking EBSD results with other characterization techniques allows a researcher to gain critical insight into the role crystallographic orientation has on a material’s properties. This webinar will provide step-by-step instructions on using the tools within EDAX OIM Analysis™ to correlate EBSD results with other imaging modalities. In this tutorial, examples correlating EBSD data with images and data from micro-Raman spectroscopy, micro-hardness, electron channeling contrast imaging (ECCI), high-resolution cross-correlation EBSD (HR-EBSD), micro-digital image correlation (DIC), micro-cathodoluminescence (CL), and optical microscopy will be shown. Some challenges associated with correlating images obtained at geometries that differ from those typically used for EBSD will be addressed.
