The Parque Bustamante Literary Café is located in the Providencia district of Santiago, Chile, just steps from the Baquedano metro station on Line 1. The Literary Café reopened its doors in October 2023, after this iconic cultural space was set on fire by unknown individuals on February 22, 2020, during the social unrest. Fortunately, we can now enjoy this beautiful building, constructed of exposed concrete, coigüe wood, and glass, with modern, urban-planned architecture. The Literary Café is a meeting point for the community, an open and welcoming space, and a venue for diverse artistic, cultural, and literary activities. It features a large and beautiful water fountain, currently undergoing maintenance and cleaning, and adjacent gardens that are the highlight of this lovely place. The building has two levels. On the first level, you'll find the inviting café, with its warm decor and lighting. There are also bookshelves, a reception desk, and restrooms. The second level houses the reading area, with bookshelves and a large concrete table clad in coigüe wood, perfect for working on your computer. This level also contains the book lending desk, administrative offices, and the library, including a dedicated children's section. The building offers Wi-Fi throughout, air conditioning, full services, and universal accessibility features, including ramps on the exterior and an elevator and vandal-proof barriers. You can reach the literary café by public transportation, taking the Metro (Line 1), or by bicycle, as the bike path runs through Bustamante Park and includes bicycle parking. To visit the literary café, you don't need to be registered; it's completely free and open to all activities. You only need to be registered if you're bringing books to your home, and to register, you must provide proof of residence, work, or study within the Providencia district, along with your ID.
