La sparata del panegirico a Rapallo

As is tradition, it was the mayor, in the presence of Bishop Alberto Tanasini, the other civil and religious authorities of the city, and the Massari of the Sestieri, who opened the Panegyric, the "burst" on July 2nd that in Rapallo commemorates the moment when the Virgin of Montallegro, patron saint of the city, appeared to the farmer Giovanni Chichizola, way back in 1557. Bagnasco, at the stroke of midday, held up the "button" along with the "fochino," placing it in the trail of gunpowder left by the thousands of firecrackers that have been set off over the past few days between the seafront and the Marconi roundabout. This year, in accordance with the ritual order, the Cappelletta district had the burden and honor of performing the Panegyric.
