What Is Actually Exist in the Deepest Place on Earth?

The Mariana Trench has been surveyed by satellites, submarines, and sonar for over a century, and scientists still cannot settle on its exact depth. If the most basic measurement we can take is still disputed, what does that say about everything else we assume we know about the deepest place on Earth? In this episode of Alta Earth, we descend through every layer of the ocean to reach Challenger Deep, the lowest point on the surface of our planet.
