Day 14 of our Shikoku Pilgrimage. This time, we traveled from Iwamoto-ji Temple, the 37th temple, in Shimanto Town, Kochi Prefecture, to Kongofuku-ji Temple, the 38th temple, located at Cape Ashizuri, the southernmost point of Shikoku. At Iwamoto-ji Temple, we admired the beautiful ceiling painting, which was submitted for public viewing from across Japan. Afterwards, we headed to Tosashimizu City, where we enjoyed interacting with local fishermen and touring a market selling freshly caught fish (Japanese swordfish and bonito). At Cape Ashizuri, we were captivated by the spectacular view of Ryugu Shrine, perched on a sheer cliff. We ended the day at a lodging in Tosashimizu City, a renovated old house built by a fisherman.
