On November 1, 2011, Warsaw's Fryderyk Chopin Airport witnessed a dramatic landing that will forever be etched in the history of Polish aviation. Due to a malfunction, a LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 767 operating from Newark to Warsaw was forced to make an emergency landing without its landing gear extended. After Captain Tadeusz Wrona brought the aircraft to the ground, the crew was hailed as heroes, but the findings of the State Commission on Aircraft Accident Investigation meant that the famous landing was not without controversy.
