Did God Almighty intend the stories of the prophets to be mere tales to be told, or are they bridges through which we cross to greater truths? In this lecture, we reflect on the meaning of "lessons" in the Holy Quran, and how the stories of the prophets, peace be upon them, were not mentioned for us to dwell on the events themselves, but rather to use them as a means to understand the station of the Prophet and his family, peace be upon them, and then to comprehend the mission of Imam Mahdi, may God hasten his reappearance. We will examine examples from the stories of Adam, Abraham, and John, peace be upon them, to discover how the Quranic narrative becomes a mirror reflecting the stations of the Prophet's family, peace be upon them, and how the trials and perfections of the prophets are manifested in their most sublime forms in the lives of Muhammad and his family, may God's prayers and peace be upon them all.
